What does Frequency, Percent, and Valid Percent in the Program Data Export tell me?

If your survey or interview includes multiple choice items, the Basic Descriptive Statistics provided in your program data export will give tables of the Frequency, Percent, and Valid percent of the responses. The Frequency simply tells you the number of participants who selected each response. The sum of all Frequency values for that question will be presented as Total Responses. This is different from Total Participants, which is the total number of people in your program, including those who did not complete a survey or answer this question.

The Percent value takes the Frequency of each response out of the Total Participants to tell you the percentage that selected this response.

The Valid Percent is often bigger than the Percent value because the Valid Percent calculates the percentage from only the Total Responses.
